It took a team of 120 firefighters to extinguish a blaze at an Ap Lei Chau shipyard yesterday. The fire was reported to police at 5.34pm yesterday and had been doused by 8.20pm. No one was injured. The fire started inside a two-storey workshop in the shipyard on Praya Road. Some residents said they heard a loud explosion from the workshop. But police said there were no suspicious circumstances and they believed the fire was caused by staff carrying out welding work. Twenty-one fire engines and two fire boats were used to fight the blaze.
