Stephon Marbury, who opted to play in China after 13 years in the NBA, has reignited his feud with American basketball fans - claiming they have lost their passion for the big games.

The former Knicks point guard - once dubbed the most reviled athlete in New York - said Chinese fans are more loyal to the sport than their counterparts in the United States.

'Fans here are so dedicated to the game and more passionate than the Americans, who are tired of big shows. That makes me feel more happy and excited,' the 34-year-old Foshan Longlions playmaker (pictured) said ahead of Sunday's CBA All-Stars showcase clash with Xinjiang Flying Tigers.

'Honestly, I prefer to play as an all-star here rather than in the United States,' the 2001 and 2003 NBA All-Star said. Marbury, called Ma Bu Li by his adoring Chinese fans, left the New York Nicks last year to play in China following a string of scandals both on and off the court, including bust-ups with coaches and teammates, reported by the media.

He will line up against fellow NBA journeyman Quincy Douby in the North-South clash at the Wukesong Arena in Beijing.

The pair are the CBA's two best-performing foreigners in the league this season.
