1. Where Does Time Go - Bob Mocarsky

All of these choices come from albums by local artists who play at my bar. The first is from my friend Bob's new album, Shanghai. Bob is probably one of the best pianists not only in Hong Kong but also in Asia. I love the whole album, but I can relate particularly to the feelings that this cut brings to mind.

2. Soul Eyes - Mia Samira

From Mia's brave attempt to produce an album of ballads: All I Know. Her deep soulful vocal style always reminds me of some of the great jazz lounge singers of the past, taking me to another place and time.

3. Don't Explain - Brigitte Mitchell

From Brigitte's debut album, Don't Explain. One of Hong Kong's best-known vocalists, and a long-time staple at the Gecko lounge, I love to listen to her live performances.

4. Because I Do - Jennifer Palor

From the album Jenerations, this song in particular demonstrates Jennifer's powerful, sweet vocal style. I love to hear her sing this one live.

5. Blue Mountain Raga - Guy Le Claire

A haunting tune with an Asian flair from the album Hitz, this reminds me why Guy is in a league of his own when it comes to the guitar. His style of play varies with his moods, and this song shows a more mellow side of him.
