Beadman healthy for Dubai, but loses ride on King Dancer

A scan yesterday cleared Darren Beadman of serious injury after the incident involving Ming Hoi Glory on Sunday at Sha Tin and the jockey will go to Dubai this week, but he has lost the ride on King Dancer in the Sheema Classic.

Beadman was carried off the track after his mount was kicked by a neighbouring horse in the starting stalls, panicked and lurched upwards, crushing Beadman's right leg against the barriers. 'I had an MRI this morning, there are no fractures and it's all soft tissue injury, but it's very, very sore,' Beadman said.

'The packing on the uprights in the gates is very good, but when Ming Hoi Glory went up in the air, he smashed my leg against the steel platform inside the barrier stall and it doesn't have the same sort of padding.'

The injured area is just above Beadman's right ankle, on the outside of the leg and comes on the back of injuries he suffered last week to his left leg after a trackwork incident.

'I've been in the wars a bit, but I'll get the physio onto it and I'll be all right for Dubai,' Beadman said.

The Australian will still go to Meydan to ride work tomorrow morning and will partner Dim Sum in the Golden Shaheen on Saturday night, but connections of King Dancer have opted to switch from Beadman to Englishman Ryan Moore.

Moore had previously been committed to Snow Fairy in the race but, with that filly's withdrawal through injury, Moore will go back onto King Dancer, on which he had finished second in the Hong Kong Gold Cup last month.

The Dubai meeting has also suffered the loss of the Mike de Kock-trained Bold Silvano - the ante-post second favourite - from the US$10 million World Cup through injury, and his stablemate Golden Sword will now be switched from the Sheema Classic to the main event.
