Nearly half the city's kindergartens want to raise fees for the next academic year, with principals citing rising rents, salaries and inflation. The Education Bureau said 411 kindergartens, or 45 per cent of the total, applied to raise fees for the 2011-12 year. Fees at 99 kindergartens will remain unchanged, and two have applied to reduce charges. Results of the applications will be announced by the end of August.
