The vibe: the lower end of Elgin Street has always played the poor cousin to the more glamorous half up the hill in central SoHo, but the recent openings of new galleries, restaurants and bars are breathing new life into the stretch. The latest - and perhaps slickest - venue is Entourage, which has a Mediterranean fusion restaurant on the first floor and a sleek but slightly dated bar on the ground floor. Walking down from street level, drinkers enter a stark white space illuminated by violet lighting and lined with black leather sofas, with white marble tables complementing the black marble bar top (right).

The drinks: following the molecular cocktail trend, Entourage offers an appropriately adventurous cocktail menu. Standout drinks include the lemon pie (HK$90), a combination of lemon curd and lemon juice, Limoncello, vodka and caramelised milk foam. The blackberry and lavender martini (HK$90) infuses vodka with fresh blackberry and lavender. The wine list focuses on Burgundy and Bordeaux, from HK$58 to HK$92 by the glass.

The verdict: we're not sure it'll be enough to drag the drinking crowd down the hill to the more ghetto end of Elgin Street, but Entourage is still leading the way in the revitalisation of the area. Plus its decent sound system and plans for regular DJ nights could help make it a happening nightspot in the style of Wagyu Lounge.
