Elvis had definitely NOT left the building in the 'Sequins at the Sevens' box.

A posse of glinting, sparkling ponchos and sombreros were the chosen fashion for the HKFC Sequins rugby team who are known for their prowess in the HKRFU's Division Three.

The Sequins' arrival has created a run on their tiny, shiny namesakes, meaning salt is not the only thing in short supply in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Members come from near and far, including Britain, Sydney, Nashville, Finland (via Sydney) and Tamworth in rural Australia.

Their multicoloured sequins may burn the retinas of all around them, but according to this squad's lore, it's 'No Sequins, no entry'. The commitment is non-negotiable. 'Any Sequin (active or no longer strapping on the boots) caught 'naked' (not wearing the Sequin waistcoat every day at the Sevens) is fined on the spot,' said Chris Helm, who splits his time between Nashville in Tennessee and South Africa. 'The Sevens is our annual reunion,' said Ed Lacis, 'There are around 30 of us .'
