Stefano Passarello overcame an injured leg to win the Asics Tolo Harbour 10k race after a sprint finish against training partner Curtis Barclay in Sha Tin yesterday. The Italian stayed well off the pace in the first half of the popular event, which this year saw 1,300 runners compete in the 10km race and a further 200 juniors in the Beat Drugs 4km event. Over the second half of the course the endorphins kicked in, and Passarello surged to the line to win in 32 minutes and 52 seconds, three seconds ahead of Barclay. Leung Ying-suet, also suffering from injuries, led the women home in 40:06.
