Swarovski enters cosmetics market with crystal-glittery line

So, Swarovski has done jewellery, shoes and chandeliers. The crystal brand is now launching a new cosmetics line to carve out a slice of the lucrative beauty market, and of course with something crystal-glittery.

Last week at Admiralty's Domani Ristorante, Swarovski debuted the line, in collaboration with French beauty house Clarins, of make-up jewellery - lip glosses and body shimmers in crystal-studded pendants.

The line also includes a fragrance called Aura, exclusive to the Asian market.

The fragrance with fruity first notes and rosy base notes was inspired by the play of light and shadow created by crystals, said Pierre Aulas, Clarins' olfactory artistic director, who flew in from Paris for the launch with the group's director of international communications, Daphne Leopold (pictured). 'I won't go out without wearing perfume. I had my first bottle when I was 14 years old,' said Leopold. 'I like fragrance that's not too strong. It should be something that can blend with your natural body scent and become a part of you.'

Leopold, though promoting the new scent, admits she's loyal to her fragrance. 'I don't want to change it because it represents my very personality.'
