Douglas Whyte scraped home as odds-on favourite in the Jockey Challenge at Sha Tin on Sunday, but the Durban Demon rates as the value bet at $3.50 at Happy Valley tonight and is a good chance of rolling $2.50 favourite Brett Prebble.

Whyte has a full book of eight rides, compared to Prebble's seven and, with good each-way chances throughout, the 10-time champion should prove very hard to beat.

Ever King can kick-start the meeting for Whyte and trainer Derek Cruz in the opener, before topweight Viva Guy aims to improve on his last-start third over 1,800m.

Mi Reilly gets his chance in a speed-laden 1,000m dash in the third event, and Whyte will no doubt take a prime piece of real estate behind the leaders from the ideal barrier four.

Flora Danica was desperately unlucky last start when held up on the rails, and barrier seven should ensure he has plenty of room to come around horses in the John Peel Handicap.

Sure Forward looks the pick of Whyte's mounts and should go very close to victory in the fifth, before second-starter Shining Triumph gets the chance to make a name for himself.
