Griffins offer future promise

TWO good quality griffin events to start last night's Happy Valley programme threw up a number of horses to follow for the campaign ahead. Both the winners, Aqua Princess and especially Lifo, appear to have a good future in front of them but so, too, do a number that finished behind and did not show up anywhere near as much.

Stephen Leung's Congratulations was badly squeezed out at the start of the first but stuck on solidly to the line and will improve considerably for the experience and when sent out over farther, for which he is bred. There was a stack of money for Tony P. H. Chan's Dragon's Pal but he looked big in the paddock and also missed the start.

However, he was noted working home really encouragingly, if decidedly green, and is likely to know much more about things next time out and when ridden by a senior jockey. Snip Pour Roi hit the line strongly for third and is another likely to come into his own over a mile.
