HAVEN'T we had enough of the ghastly Planet Hollywood? Sunday's televising of the opening night provided us with a new low in Hong Kong English-language television, with the monosyllabic American stars gushing banalities about how much they love Hong Kong and how they want to do a film here, blah, blah, blah.

Of course they love Hong Kong; these ''stars'' are not too gormless to realise that there's a lot of money here and they can bag a slice of it. Since few of them have ever delivered a performance worthy enough to be called acting, I suppose they need some sideline for when their worthless careers dry up. TIMOTHY ANDREWS Kornhill
