STAR junior triathlete Brian Bozarth turned the tables on Nonoy Jopson of the Philippines with a convincing victory in the MSA International Triathlon in Sabah, Malaysia.
Brian was a disappointing second in the Puma Hong Kong race two weeks ago, after leading most of the way, but faltered in the demanding 10-kilometre run over the exposed route along the Plover Cove dam.
Nonoy, an outstanding runner, was not hampered by difficult conditions, and breezed past Brian to win by more than five minutes.
Brian was again the first junior and third overall to complete the 1.5 km swim in Sabah, and was still in the same position after the 40 km bike when he put on his running shoes.
The Hong Kong International School student again found difficulties in the run, and was overtaken by several competitors in the Open category.
However, the commanding lead Brian built up over the other juniors in the swim and cycling routines paved the way for an easy triumph in the under-20 division with a time of two hours, 13 minutes.
Nonoy finished five minutes behind this time. Don Bozarth Jr, Brian's elder brother, had a time of 2:31.
