THREE men yesterday conned a woman into paying $90,000 for a bag of rubber bands in Tung Tau Estate, Wong Tai Sin.

One of the suspects asked the victim, 60, to help him carry the bands he said were used in video recorders.

A second man then offered to buy the bands for $50 each and, as he negotiated, a third man appeared and offered $80.

The second man persuaded the woman to join him in paying $50 and then re-selling them to the third man.

She withdraw $40,000 in cash and $50,000 in gold from a bank as her share of the deal. When she handed over the money, the three disappeared.
