A CULTURAL exchange programme will offer young people a chance to learn about another culture and language in a more relaxed environment.

Called the AFS Intercultural Exchange, the programme will offer participants intensive training in English, German and Mandarin, by arranging home stays for them in Australia, Germany and China.

The programme is aimed at helping young people achieve fluency in these languages and offering them a chance to enhance their knowledge about different lifestyles and cultures, according to the organisers.

Arrangements have been made to provide formal language training to the participating students by qualified teachers.

They will also have a chance to improve their language skills through interaction with their host families and fellow students at school.

For those who want to improve their English language skills, there is a six-week tour to Australia for $25,000, while German and Mandarin lovers can join a seven-week tour to Germany for $27,000 or that to China for $18,000.

The fee includes return airfare, travel, course tuition, accommodation, meals, orientation and medical costs.

The trips have been organised for July and August.

Those aged between 15 and 18 years can join the activities. For enquiries call Judy Lee on 802-0383.
