THREE men were safely plucked from the waters of South Bay by a passing pleasure craft yesterday after their speedboat caught fire.

The six-metre-long boat was about 100 metres off the shore of the bay, near Repulse Bay, when it caught fire at 3.55 pm.

One marine police launch and three Fire Services Department launches put the fire out at 4.34 pm.

The cause of the fire was not known.
