CUSTOMS officers believe they have smashed a cigarette smuggling syndicate and distribution ring, following the seizure of $560,000 worth of contraband cigarettes in Aberdeen yesterday.

Seven people were arrested: four from a fishing vessel and three at a car park as they loaded the cartons into a car.
