NYK in big China plans

JAPANESE shipping giant NYK Line will continue to make heavy investments in China to connect the country with the rest of the world, according to managing director K. Morioka.

Mr Morioka was speaking at a reception to mark the first anniversary of the company's Guangzhou representative office.

The company strengthened its presence in China last month by launching a fixed-day, weekly barge service from Hong Kong to Huangpu.

Cargo emanating from China is connected directly with NYK's Singapore-California Express service to the US and the Japan-Germany service to Europe.
