Photo booth fantasy for a quick $100

THERE we were, sitting in a photo booth in Quarry Bay MTR the other day, admiring the curtains and the light fittings when a gorgeous . . .

It's not true of course, but just the beginning of a fantasy.

Not ours, but one the booth manufacturer evidently believes some people in Hong Kong must have. And if people want to have fantasies about sitting on little wind-up wind-down stools then by God they'll have to pay for it.

In fact, we have found we cannot afford to sit in photo booths for longer than it takes to adjust our collar, carefully feed the meter then flash flash flash and out.

''Seating charge for non-photo taker HK$100 per minute. Payment in advance,'' reads a sign in the booth.

So yesterday we handed over $100 to the chap at nearby Hang Seng Bank (who's apparently been nominated to collect the cash) saying we would like a private minute in the booth please - he looked a bit perplexed and gave us a stored value ticket.

Looks like it's not the money spinner the manufacturer hoped for.
