TWENTY Junior Police Call (JPC) members were recently appointed Metrication Ambassadors for their contribution to the promotion of the metrication system.

In support of the Metrication Committee, the members assisted in manning metric scale counters at five of Hong Kong Housing Authority shopping centres, including Lok Fu, Oi Man, Wo Che and Tsui Lam between February and March this year.

They demonstrated how to use metric scales and explain the metric conversion rules as well as distributed metric dials, fact sheets and platemats to the public.

Since 1992, JPC members had been involved in the promotion of the metrication system. Because of their enthusiastic involvement, they were invited to take part in counter demonstrations in various locations.

Speaking at the appointment certificate presentation ceremony, Metrication Committee chairman K.Y. Tongson, praised the assistance rendered by the JPC members.

''JPC Metrication Ambassadors always play an active role in our promotion programme,'' Mr Tongson said.

The ambassadors are Sze Nang-bong, Mak Yiu-fong, Cheung Tsui-chi and Leung Wing-kai from Wong Tai Sin; Cheng Lai-king, Chiu Hon-fai, Wong King-shing and Wu Chau-ho from Kowloon City; Cheung Man-yin, Man Ka-ling, Tsang Shao-ching and Hui Hing-yee from Sha Tin; Wong Kit-fong, Chong Choi-ting, Ng Siu-ching and Yau Li-fan from Kwun Tong, and Kwok Ka-yan, Wong Lai-ting, Choi Yuk-ping and Leung Wai-yee from Tuen Mun.
