I HAVE lived in Tsing Yi for three years and I enjoy it. There are tennis courts, indoor recreation halls, shopping centres, restaurants and even cinemas.
The only problem here is the traffic. Bus services have improved a lot this year, but especially when it is raining, traffic congestion is very bad. The situation was particularly bad last month. Some new residential buildings have gone up and the population on the island continues to increase.
Perhaps it was assumed that the Temporary Housing Areas (THA) in Tsing Yi would go, but they have been there now for at least five years and so the word ''temporary'' is quite misleading. The THA residents are unlikely to move in the near future, which means that the population will not decrease.
I do not believe that the two bridges will be able to take the strain of so much vehicular and human traffic caused by the burgeoning population. I urge the Government to try not to let this lovely environment be destroyed.
