PROPERTY developer Great Eagle Holdings has appointed an independent Legislative Councillor Vincent Cheng Hoi Chuen as a non-executive director, effective September 1.

The chief financial officer with Hongkong Bank was first appointed to Legco by former Governor Lord Wilson in 1991.

Mr Cheng, 45, a senior economic researcher, was invited to become an adviser to Beijing on Hong Kong matters, among the 50 advisers announced in early April by mainland officials. Mr Chen received the Office of the Order of the British Empire last December.
