YOUR correspondent Tony Giles (South China Morning Post, September 10) seems puzzled by a recent article in the police newspaper Offbeat, detailing force concerns and response to stress problems and the need for counselling.

He questions our motives in view of an earlier article which espoused a more macho approach.

The earlier article was clearly labelled as having been reprinted from a British magazine and appeared in the Counterpoint column, which customarily reproduces overseas articles expressing differing viewpoints.
