'Stopping' not waiting fares

THE Transport Department has still not replied to my query on taxi waiting fares (South China Morning, August 30).

If the Government does maintain that the fare itself is justifiable, it should at least do two things.

Amend the word 'waiting' to read 'stopping' to properly reflect the true meaning, and, Warn the general public that taxi passengers must bring along with them sufficient amounts of cash to pay such limitless fares in the event that they are caught in a traffic jam.

Would Transport Advisory Committee members care to offer their comments on this interesting issue?
