AIR New Zealand has come up with a 'Take-a-Mate' scheme, allowing two people to fly to the country economy return for a total of less than HK$10,000 during October.

A person buying a return ticket for $8,420 can take a friend for only $1,578. Passengers must depart between October 1 and October 30, and must return within 30 days. Tickets, which are limited, are available up to October 26, and are non-refundable.

P and O is offering a 40 per cent discount for a 35-day around the world cruise departing Vancouver on November 11. SOUTH African Airways will tomorrow launch a frequent traveller programme entitled Voyager.

The programme will offer extra miles for passengers travelling with SAA and its partners.

LAUDA Air will in November offer passengers a pay-by-the-minute telephone service on all long-haul flights. The airline will also that month introduce a second weekly direct flight from Hong Kong to Vienna. THE rain in Spain falls mainly . . . on Japan. Far from travelling to Spain, Japanese are visiting a 'Parque Espana' for their continental Europe experience, and Japan wants visitors from Asian countries to do the same.

The theme park, at Shima, Mie prefecture, has had almost 1.5 million visitors since it opened last April. It boasts the reproduction of Spanish towns, restaurants and such-like. It is accessible from Nagoya or Osaka.
