IT WAS a red-letter-day for Tsuen Wan Government Secondary School's swimmers who set a series of new record at the school's 24th swimming gala held recently at the Kwai Shing Swimming pool.

There were 50 events in all and each event reflected how hard the contestants had worked for the competitions.

The day reached its climax with the inter-house 4 x 50 m relay, which saw a keen competition among the participating teams.

Guest-of-honour and former assistant principal Chan Law Lai-chun, praised the students for their hard work and encouraged them to perform even better in the future.

Bamboo House won the best cheering team award, while the overall boys' and girls' titles went to Pine House and Plum House respectively.

Pine also won the overall championship.

'Swimming does not only help exercise our body, it also gives us enjoyment,' said Principal Tang Ping-leung.

'The competitions offered an opportunity for students to keep in good physical shape,' Mr Tang added.
