AN escort agency boss was badly injured in what police believe was a revenge attack early yesterday.

Roberta Hilburn, 51, separated from her husband, was found lying on a bloodstained bed at her Johnston Road flat just before 4 am.

She was taken to Tang Shiu Kin Hospital and transferred to Queen Mary Hospital in 'ill' condition.

Police believed Ms Hilburn, an American, was beaten by up to four men, one of them armed with a wooden pole which was seized from the third-floor flat.

Anti-triad detectives seized a list of 30 expatriate women and more than 10 passport photographs of women aged between 20 and 30.

Police believed the attackers might have posed as prospective customers.

'It doesn't look like a robbery as no signs of ransacking were detected and no cash and property were reported lost,' the officer said.

In addition to head, chest and back injuries, the woman also suffered cuts.

Detectives are trying to trace Ms Hilburn's estranged husband.
