YOUR anonymous correspondent ('Curb illegal parking', South China Morning Post, October 7) asks what police are doing to combat the situation in Shek O on weekends.

As of October 20, in the 15 weekends (excluding a rained-out one) since the beginning of July, an average of more than 50 cars had been ticketed on each weekend. Two cars were towed away and a summons issued during the period.

However, the problem will not go away until parking spaces more closely match the demand - and this is out of police hands.
