Better choice of portfolios for the wealthy
PRIVATE clients with US$1 million (HK$7.8 million) or more qualify for a higher level of service at Jardine Fleming Investment Services (JF).
JF accepts private clients with as little as $250,000, but their investments are restricted to the group's managed unit trusts.
At the $1 million level, Premium Portfolios are available. These are private portfolios of stocks and funds directed by a senior JF fund manager.
As with the managed unit trusts, investors receive monthly statements, but these are more detailed for Premium Portfolio investors.
There are four basic Premium funds from which the portfolios are constructed: Premium Orient, invested in shares and bonds in the Pacific Basin; Premium Global; Premium Balanced with limited equity exposure of about 70 per cent; and Premium Conservative with only about 50 per cent equities.
Portfolios are tailored to the individual client according to their risk profiles and may be discretionary - with JF making the decisions - or advisory, with the client having responsibility.
