WATSON'S Athletic Club's top distance duo Roberto De Vido and Lee Kar-lun proved too strong for the rest of the pack in yesterday's second race of this season's Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association Cross Country League held over a 10-kilometre course at Sek Kong in the New Territories, writes Mike Field.

De Vido turned on the pace in the final 2km to win in a fast 32 minutes 25 seconds.

Lee cruised home in second place in 32:41 with Kwok well back in third place in 33:09.

Tsuen Wan's Li Kar-yin was fourth in 33:34.

Defending champions Tsuen Wan took the team race while Watson's edged out last-start winners Police Athletic Club to take second place.

Watson's Maggie Chan Man-yee proved far too good in the women's race while Ladies Road Runners dominated the team race, taking first and second.

TCAA's Chan Ping-hung was the fastest overall in the men's junior 5km race and Ladies Road Runners' Campbell McMath took the under 17 years title.

Watson's won both the men's junior team events as well as the girls race which proved to be a virtual walkover.
