LIBERAL Party chairman Allen Lee Peng-fei has apparently softened his opposition to the 1991 agreement.

Yesterday he said the party had yet to decide whether to support amendments that sought to lift the ban on the number of overseas judges in the court.

He said they had to listen to the views of the legal profession.

This is in spite of the fact that the party manifesto says it will seek flexibility in the composition of the court and its establishment before 1997.

Mr Lee and most of his party legislators backed a motion in 1991 calling for more flexibility.
