What an earful

AND you thought those tacky K-Tel advertisements on the telly were bad? It could be far worse. You could subscribe to the British Sunday magazine that runs advertisements for products like 'the incredible Whisper XL'.

Perhaps they have different sized ears over in Britain, where this 'sound amplification device' is being advertised but it's a little hard to swallow the slogan 'so small it hides right behind your ear' when the accompanying picture of the XL (what could that stand for?) seems to tell a different story.

Whatever, this extraordinary device is said to 'help you hear those whispers that you thought were a thing of the past - up to 100 feet away.' Strangely enough, though, the advertisement for this revolutionary device (it apparently allows you to listen to the television and radio too!) ends with the disclaimer 'Whisper XL is a hearing enhancer, not a hearing aid.'
