Another youngster to shine was Anatol Schweizer who came second to James in 44:10.20 for third position overall. Rebecca Hawkes was most outstanding among the girls, winning the 15 and 16 years category in 55:10.40.

Mark Bailey shrugged off stiff challenge from Albert Hau Yuen-cheung to win the boys' 13 and 14 years age division by less than three seconds with third-placed Yiu Yu-kei also putting in a strong showing. James Hutch was first in the 11 and 12 years division.

Christine Bailey, competing in the girls' 11 and 12 years section, posted a very encouraging time of 34:26.40 which was less than six seconds behind 13-14 champion Kira Brownlee.

Alexandro Debiasi was in a class of his own among the younger competitors who raced over the shortened course of 100 m swim, four-kilometre bike race and 800 m run.

Lee Ling-chun won the boys' seven and eight years category while Sarah Shuttleworth was top among the girls.

Teenager Graham Parker showed he is a world class bowler in the making with two memorable results in the singles event of the Hong Kong International Bowls Classic.

The King George V School student stunned the crowd at the Craigengower Cricket Club with a 25-15 win over his school teacher Bill McMahon in his first international match.

Graham, 15, led all the way to beat experienced McMahon, a former national champion and a full-fledged Hong Kong international, most convincingly.

And to add another feather to his cap, Kowloon Cricket Club's Graham followed it up with a 25-22 win over Welsh international Will Thomas in his second round match.

However, the talented youngster's glory trail came to an end when he was narrowly pipped 25-23 by Stephen Lo of China Light.
