Digital announces Venturis

DIGITAL today officially announced in Asia its Venturis line of entry-level desktop personal computers.


Already available in the United States, the Venturis line consists of eight models including Pentium and 486-based PCs and replaces the DECpc LPv+ and DECpc LPx+ Value Line.


Aimed at volume purchasers in smaller and mid-size organisations, the Venturis family is the third in a series of new announcements from Digital's Personal Computer Business Unit this autumn and follow the Celebris and HiNote lines.


All Venturis models, including the 60-MHz Pentium version, are Energy Star compliant and feature security features such as keyboard and mouse passwords, floppy disk and hard drive access control, and a chassis lock.


Five of the models are available in a slim-line form factor. The other three come in full-profile desktop cases and feature five slots and five bays.
