Beef prices rise up to 3.2pc

The city's sole importer of cattle from the mainland - Ng Fung Hong - has raised the wholesale price of fresh beef by between 1.8 per cent and 3.2 per cent, depending on the quality. The importer said it was to cover a rise in rearing costs and an appreciation of the yuan. The increases will see the wholesale price of beef rise to up to HK$2,765 per 100 catties. The company said yesterday it would help to maintain supplies from the mainland.
