Jet-lagged Hong Kong Scottish can give themselves a pat on the back after reaching the quarter-finals of the Melrose sevens in the birthplace of the game over the weekend. Hong Kong Scottish, who comprise players of Scottish heritage and Chinese members of newly promoted First Division side Nomads, reached the last eight of the tournament in Scotland, losing to Jed Forrest 22-17 for a place in the semis. Jed lost in the semi-finals to the eventual winners, home team Melrose, indicating Hong Kong Scottish's high standard of play.
