Something new on the menu - a book

Over the years, Dining Concepts has realised over 20 eateries on both sides of the harbour, but Thursday night's launch marked a first for veteran restaurateur Sandeep Sekhri and his partners. Bistecca The Book is the group's first food book, telling the story of the eponymous steak house through anecdotes, recipes and vibrant photographs.

'Bistecca is quite unique among our restaurants,' Sekhri (pictured, second from left) said at Thursday's cocktail party. 'Who would have thought that such a small, hidden place with minimal marketing would grow so quickly in popularity and entertain a full house night after night? The book is a celebration of all that.'

Executive chef Chris Mark, who helmed the six-month project with co-writer Andrew Sun and photographer Andre Eichman, said the book represented all the ideas and passions of the Bistecca and Dining Concepts family, and was a way to give something special to its loyal fans.

'For me, the research was the most fun - and I don't just mean eating a lot of steaks,' Sun, a Canadian-Chinese journalist well known in these parts, said. 'I learned a lot about Italian culinary history.'
