Aiming to double the amount raised last year, ArtWalk DB will return next month, with a fresh set of exhibits from local and international artists.

Held in Discovery Bay and supported by D Deck, an ocean-front alfresco eatery, ArtWalk DB is a free event featuring art exhibitions and art and craft stalls. Last year, it raised nearly HK$15,000 for MADaboutART (, an organisation that helps educate children across the world about HIV and Aids, through a mix of innovative arts-based education and narrative therapy.

Led by an event map, and after having been encouraged to make a donation, visitors will wander through DB Plaza and D Deck, where the work of painter Leslie Lachiche, photographer Gary Stokes, quilt maker Kayla Shim, among others, will be on display. Proceeds will again go to MADaboutART.

'We used the money [from last year's event] to fund some important add-ons to our HIV educational programme - including a 'hero booking' workshop for 120 children,' says Liz Brown, MADaboutART's charity director. 'Each child created a book in which they were the hero, allowing them to identify problems in their lives and develop coping strategies to deal with those problems.'

Fresh on the deck this year is Chokoli Strawberry Street Art Exhibit, featuring works from graffiti artists including Tilt, Mist, Kongo and Ceet (below left), who are all advocates of the French graffiti movement, and photographers Ali G and Karim Tabar.

The event runs from 6pm to 10pm on May 6. Spend more than HK$100 at one of the 13 participating D Deck restaurants and you'll get a free ferry ride home. For more information, visit
