1. Happy Feet - Paolo Conte

I always enjoy Conte's gravelly voice and great lyrics. I always associate music with a time and a place - sadly, this track reminds me of Hong Kong during Sars.

2. Cosmic Girl - Jamiroquai

Jay Kay writes all his own songs apparently. I love his voice - and also his hats. I've made a point of going to see him whenever he's come to Hong Kong.

3. Rock My World - Michael Jackson

I am intrigued by Jackson and why his life ended up the way it did. It is sad he's no longer with us. This is my favourite of all his songs.

4. The Operations - Charlotte Gainsbourg A very chilled song and perfect for evening listening. I was listening to this during the first London Book Fair I attended as I started out as an agent in Asia and sold my first Chinese author, Su Tong.

5. Diddley Daddy - Bo Diddley

Bo Diddley is one of the greatest blues singers to ever have lived. I listened to this song a lot when I was in China in 1989 over the period in the run-up to the events of June 4.
