HK clubs may field extra foreign player

Hong Kong First Division clubs will be allowed one extra foreign player from the Asian region when the new season begins in September. The current rule allows clubs to register up to seven foreign players, but only four can be on the pitch at the same time. 'The new rule means there can be five expatriates at the same time if the fifth one is from the Asian region, including Australia,' Hong Kong Football Association general secretary Vincent Yuen Man-chuen said. 'The AFC also allows an Asian foreign player ... on top of their quota of three foreign players.'
