Sichuan schools project to end this year

A government-backed effort to rebuild schools destroyed by the 2008 Sichuan province earthquake will finish by the end of this year, undersecretary for education Kenneth Chen Wei-on said yesterday. About 200,000 pupils will benefit from the reconstruction effort by a group set up by the Education Bureau. The group took part in building 56 schools and assisted non-governmental organisations with another 13 rebuilding projects.
