Three injured as gas blast rips through Guanxi pesticide factory

An explosion rocked a pesticide factory in Guangxi province yesterday afternoon, injuring three workers. The blast occurred at the Jinsui Pesticide Factory in Nanning at 3.30pm. The three injured were sent to a hospital. Firefighters had put out the resulting blaze by about 6pm. The fire engulfed an area of 3,000 square metres and destroyed two warehouses. On-site tests showed that two types of harmful gas, formaldehyde and phosphine, were being stored at the plant. Staff Reporter
