The South China Morning Post scooped three prizes at the 10th annual Wan-Ifra Asia Media awards in Bangkok last night.

In a ceremony attended by Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, the Post picked up a gold award for overall newspaper design, a silver for magazine cover design and a bronze for newspaper front page design.

The awards were received by the head of the SCMP's layout and design team Carl Jones. Acting editor-in-chief Cliff Buddle said: 'We are honoured to win these prestigious design awards which are a credit to all involved. We will strive to further improve the newspaper for our readers.'

The competition is open to newspapers and magazines in the Asia- Pacific, South Asia and Middle East regions.

Organised by Ifra Asia, last night's ceremony was part of this year's Publish Asia industry conference.
