The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation was founded in Hong Kong on March 3, 1865, and in Shanghai one month later. In 1980, HSBC acquired 51 per cent of Marine Midland Bank, buying the rest in 1987. HSBC Holdings was established in Britain in 1991 as the parent of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation ahead of its purchase of the UK-based Midland Bank and the impending 1997 transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong from Britain to China.
Martin Cerullo, managing director - development for Asia-Pacific, Alexander Mann Solutions
Cerullo will be responsible for sales and business development efforts in the region, and drive the Asia-Pacific consultancy proposition. He will also continue in his capacity as the global director of resourcing communications and innovation. Cerullo joined Alexander Mann Solutions in December 2006.
Fiona Chan, operations manager, Fox Electronics Asia
Chan will manage the new Asia-Pacific logistics and customer service centre in Hong Kong. 'The opening of our new centre, along with Chan's promotion and expanded role within the company, will ensure that we are ideally placed to support engineers across the region,' says Herb Chaney, vice-president and managing director of Fox Electronics and Fox Electronics EMEA. Pakorn Boonyakurkul, managing director, head of north Asia, Barclays Wealth
Starting May 3, Pakorn will spearhead Barclays' wealth management business across Greater China and north Asia, and lead the company's banking unit in Hong Kong.
His banking career spans 30 years, including 25 years in private banking. He has assumed senior leadership roles in various financial institutions such as Citi Private Bank, Bankers' Trust and HSBC Private Bank.
