Travellers arrested at Macau airport on drug charges

Two women who flew in from Malaysia were arrested at Macau airport on suspicion of trafficking drugs they had swallowed. According to Macau media, the two women were sisters. They allegedly swallowed a total of 645 grams of heroin that had been encapsulated in 80 pills. The drugs had a market value of about HK$600,000. The pair arrived from Kuala Lumpur on Friday. A police officer stopped them and they later admitted that they had swallowed drugs. The women were taken to hospital where the drugs were found inside their bodies. One was found with 315 grams of heroin and another one with 330 grams. According to local media, the pair claimed the drugs came from an internet friend and planned to smuggle the heroin to Guangzhou.
