Cathay pilot's hiring challenge shot down
A Cathay Pacific pilot has challenged a court ruling that the airline need not assess all second officers for promotion before it can hire junior first officers. Counsel John Scott SC argued that Scott Williams should be given leave to appeal because there were 150 second officers in his position. Mr Justice Robert Tang Ching ruled the issue concerned only parties to the employment contracts and was not of general public importance. He refused leave to appeal.
