Sex crimes by children on rise, study finds

The number of sex-related crimes by children is increasing, a survey by the Evangelical Lutheran Church Social Service found. Over two years, the group studied 1,100 children who were under the supervision of the police superintendent's discretion scheme. In 2010, 30 had committed sex-related offences, up from 24 in 2009. The group called for the legal age of sexual maturity, now 14, to be reviewed after finding a boy of 13 who had committed unlawful sexual intercourse but could only be charged with indecent assault.
