A naked man who jumped to his death from his 21st-floor flat in Yuen Long yesterday was probably high on drugs, police said.

The 34-year-old, who has only been named as Tse, was found by a 14-year-old boy outside Yuk Lung Mansion in Fung Kam Street at 8.30am. Paramedics declared him dead at the scene.

His 28-year-old girlfriend, who police did not name, was sleeping when her boyfriend jumped and only became aware of his death when officers came to her door. Police believe Tse jumped out of a living room window. He did not leave a suicide note.

Officers found white powder which they suspected to be ketamine on a living room table. 'We believe the man took the drug and got high before he jumped out of the window,' one officer said.

There were no signs of a fight or struggle, police said.

In December 2009, a woman visitor from the mainland, 26, was suspected to have been high on the drug Ice when she plunged 13 floors to her death from her hotel room in Yau Ma Tei. Traces of a substance suspected to be Ice were found in her room.

Government figures show that 106kg of ketamine was seized in the first three months of this year, a 152 per cent rise from the 42kg in the same period of last year.

The seizure of Ice rose sharply to 15kg in the first three months of this year. Only one kilogram was found in the same period last year.

The amount of heroin seized also rose by nearly 250 per cent to 59kg from January to March this year from 17kg in the same period of last year.
