JONATHAN Callard, the England rugby full-back who needed 27 stitches in his eyebrow and temple in a controversial tour match in Port Elizabeth last June, was yesterday handed the chance to face the Springboks again.

Callard has been named in the Barbarians team to play the South Africans in their final tour match in Dublin on December 3. But there is no guarantee he will play against Eastern Province forward Elandre van der Bergh whose boot caused the damage. Van der Bergh is not in the first-choice South African team on their current tour.
