Fire and wood elements in logos

In designing company logos, there are fung shui principles to keep in mind.

Companies associated with the wood element fall under three categories. The first involves firms associated with paper - which is derived from wood - such as printers, publishers and bookshops. The second includes products derived from wood or plants, and include florists, herbalists, fruit and vegetable production, as well as furniture makers and traders. The third is associated with nurturing, which includes pharmaceutical and health care, education, social work and charities.

In the cycle of production, wood is nurtured by water. Thus, colours that represent the water element (black or blue) and the wood element (green) can be used in the logos of wood-related businesses. With regard to shapes, wavy, irregular patterns (symbolising water) and rectangles (symbolising wood) are recommended.

Wood produces fire and is burned up by this interaction, which would be the case if colours such as red, orange, purple and pink, or triangles were used in the wood company's logo.

Fire-related companies include those that use fire as part of their production process, such as electrical supplies, oil and gas exploration, and lighting, and those that use fire as part of their service (restaurants and spas).

Fire is supported by the wood element, which means that using colours representing wood (green) and fire (red, orange, purple and pink) and rectangular and triangular designs for logos of fire-related companies is a good idea.
